Attaching additional data to Choice and Row Items

"Metadata" can be attached as tags to choice and row items for use throughout a Web survey.

A Choice is more than a piece of text

While a respondent may only see a piece of text or an image representing a choice item, behind the scenes there may be much more information that needs to be used throughout the survey. Metadata makes the storage and use of this information easy.

Metadata provides an opportunity to take a choice that is selected by a respondent, and use the choice later in a survey, but in a much richer way than simply displaying the text of the choice chosen. Let's consider an example involving car brands. A respondent may choose a brand as follows:
